Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a Senior Flight Test Engineer for our U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area, at the New Century, KS hangar.

You will provide technical leadership for ground and flight testing, draft test plans, and perform real time data analysis, with potential roles as Test Director or Flight Test Lead. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years of experience, strong communication skills, and experience with avionics systems

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical or Aerospace Engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
  • Proficient use of advanced flight test tools and troubleshooting avionics installations.
  • Solid understanding of certification processes and regulations.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts ground and flight test plans and reports for complex programs.
  • Coordinates and executes complex flight tests, acting as test director.
  • Defines and maintains test aircraft configurations and coordinates with engineering.
  • Operates flight test tools, analyzes data in real time, and adjusts test parameters.
  • Proposes viable solutions to issues identified during flight tests.
  • Prepares avionics installation data for test aircraft.
  • Collaborates with certification authorities to resolve issues.
  • Revises procedures and contributes to safety improvements.
  • Provides sound problem solving for difficult technical challenges.
  • Mentors less experienced flight test engineers (FT1 & FT2).
