Job summary

EVONA is seeking a Principal Flight Software Engineer in Austin, TX to lead spacecraft flight software development for a major satellite programme. You will architect, implement and troubleshoot embedded C within the NASA Core Flight System, owning subsystems end-to-end.

Ideal candidates have 9+ years of space software experience, strong C/C++ skills, and a track record in multi-threaded real-time systems. Travel and customer-facing reviews are possible as part of mission operations.

Qualifications

• 9+ years of industry experience with a degree, or 7+ with a Master's, in Computer Science/Engineering
• Satellite/spacecraft flight software experience, with tech lead or subsystem ownership preferred
• Strong hands-on C programming and C++ experience

Responsibilities

• Lead spacecraft flight software architecture and in-orbit operations
• Write embedded C code for real-time satellite control
• Work within NASA cFS framework and review designs for efficiency and reliability
• Troubleshoot software/hardware interactions and optimise performance
• Mentor junior engineers and present design reviews to customers and executives
