Job summary

Barrios Technology in Houston is seeking a Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and verify flight software for cutting-edge spaceflight systems. You will lead architecture, interfaces, and testing while collaborating with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration.

The role requires strong C/C++, embedded software expertise, and hands-on debugging in lab environments. You will participate in Agile processes and work with a multidisciplinary engineering organization.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Software Engineering or related field with relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming (C/C++).
• Extensive embedded software development and hardware/software integration experience.
• Experience with debugging embedded systems in lab environments.
• Experience implementing serial and packet-based communication protocols.
• Experience version-controlling with Git-based platforms (GitLab/GitHub).
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, integration and verification of flight software for spaceflight systems.
• Provide technical leadership across full software lifecycle including design, testing, deployment, and support.
• Define software architectures and interfaces in collaboration with hardware teams for system integration.
• Lead verification of software performance in integrated hardware/software environments.
• Drive risk identification and mitigation in flight software design.
• Guide hardware-in-the-loop testing and interaction with embedded systems in lab/test environments.
• Lead Agile development cycles and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Represent the software team during milestones and program reviews.
