The School of Aviation at Southern Illinois University Carbondale invites qualified applicants for anticipated, term, non-tenure track positions at the Assistant Instructor and Assistant Lecturer levels. The role includes providing flight instruction, checking flights, and leading a team of Flight Instructors within the Aviation Flight program.

Qualifications include degrees, FAA certificates, and documented flight-time milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree by hire date.
• Commercial Pilot Certificate or higher.
• CFI and CFI-I.
• Meet the experience requirements of 14 CFR 141.36 (b).
• Minimum 50 hours dual given in the last 12 months.
• Endorsed at least one student for Private Pilot and Commercial Pilot.
• Endorsed at least one student for Instrument Rating.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual flight instruction to Aviation Flight students.
• Conduct FAA stage and graduation check flights.
• Function as a Team Leader supervising Flight Instructors.
• Assist faculty in teaching aeronautical and aircraft systems.
• Maintain training records for assigned students.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Flight Instructor/Director.
