Job summary

Cornerstone Builders of SWFL, Inc. seeks a Lead Fleet Mechanic to oversee daily fleet operations, perform maintenance, and ensure vehicles are safe and compliant. This role combines planning, hands-on repair, and supervision of fleet staff.

You will manage maintenance schedules, coordinate with vendors, and track service history while controlling costs and minimizing downtime.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational automotive training preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation, or related field preferred; ASE certification desirable.
• Proven experience in fleet management, vehicle maintenance, or related field.
• Strong understanding of vehicle systems, maintenance procedures, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
• ASE certification or equivalent is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement fleet policies and procedures to ensure effective management and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Monitor and manage the overall performance, efficiency, and availability of the fleet.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure fleet requirements and operational needs are met.
• Plan and oversee the acquisition of new vehicles, including vendor selection and procurement.
• Manage vehicle disposal and replacement strategies to optimize fleet composition and financial performance.
• Develop and manage maintenance schedules and track vehicle service history.
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.

Key Responsibilities

Fleet Operations Management

• Utilize fleet management software to track vehicle performance, manage maintenance schedules, and generate reports.
• Implement and maintain GPS tracking systems and other technology to enhance fleet management.

Parts and Inventory Management

• Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies needed for vehicle repairs and maintenance.
• Monitor parts and material needs to support timely repairs and minimize vehicle downtime.

Budgeting and Cost Control

• Develop and manage the fleet budget, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, and insurance expenses.
• Analyze cost reports and identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Team Leadership

• Supervise and manage fleet staff, including mechanics, drivers, and administrative personnel.

Requirements

• ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
