Cornerstone Builders of Southwest Florida, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Mechanic to maintain a diverse fleet of trucks, vans and equipment. You will perform routine maintenance, diagnose issues, and ensure vehicles are safe and compliant.

You will document repairs, manage parts, and provide on-site support for drivers and fleet managers, following safety protocols and regulations.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or automotive certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with fleet or heavy-duty maintenance.
  • ASE certification desirable but not required.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools and equipment; strong knowledge of vehicle systems; ability to read manuals and schematics; strong problem solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles.
  • Inspect vehicles to ensure safety and emissions compliance.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance and inspections; document parts and labor.
  • Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance comply with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and regulations.
  • Provide clear communication with drivers and fleet managers about issues and repair timelines.
  • Follow all safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Respond to emergency repair requests and provide on-site assistance when needed.

Description


The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles, including trucks, vans, and specialized equipment. This role ensures that all vehicles are safe, operational, and compliant with regulatory standards. The Fleet Mechanic will perform routine maintenance, diagnose and repair mechanical issues, and keep detailed records of all work performed.



  • Routine Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance tasks such as oil changes, brake checks, tire rotations, and fluid replacements.

  • Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in vehicles, including engines, transmissions, suspension systems, and other critical components.

  • Inspections: Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify potential problems before they become serious issues. Ensure vehicles meet safety and emissions standards.

  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed. Document parts used, labor hours, and any additional notes related to the service.

  • Parts Management: Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies needed for vehicle repairs and maintenance.

  • Compliance: Ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed in accordance with company policies, manufacturer specifications, and local regulations.

  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to drivers and fleet managers by communicating clearly about vehicle issues and repair timelines.

  • Safety: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.

  • Emergency Repairs: Respond to emergency repair requests and provide on-site assistance when necessary.


Requirements


  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in automotive technology preferred.

  • Experience: Proven experience as a mechanic, preferably with experience in fleet or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance.

  • Certifications: ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification or equivalent is highly desirable, but not required.

  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.

    • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and components.

    • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.

    • Excellent with problem solving
