Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa, Inc. subsidiary, is hiring for Lead Fitter/Welders for our Steele, AL plant. You will lay out pieces from blueprints and use welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal according to layouts and orders.

You will lead a team, inspect work for conformance to specs, and ensure safety and quality standards while meeting deadlines. This role requires strong Flux Core experience and certifications for horizontal/vertical welds.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 4 years of welding experience.
• Flux Core welding experience required.
• Certified to perform horizontal and vertical welds.
• Ability to perform multi-pass welds.
• Ability to perform 'C' (circumference) welds.
• Qualify as a flat welder.
• Maintain at least 90% pass rate on UT inspections.
• Basic understanding of oxy-fuel/plasma burning.
• Basic understanding of carbon arcing.
• Ability to maintain good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of welders.
• Repair welds and assist with deadlines.
• Apply welding processes per layouts and blueprints.
• Join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts with various welding equipment.
• Perform complex repairs and weld clips/hardware.
• Perform full-penetration welds to poles or channels.
• Operate grinding equipment.

• May position pieces using jigs and holding fixtures.
• May inspect completed work for conformance to specs.
• Maintain quality and efficiency.

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary is hiring for Lead Fitter/Welders for our plant located in Steele, AL. As a Lead Fitter/Welder, you’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll then use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials. The Lead Fitter/Welder also inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment.

What You'll Do

What You'll Need
