Job summary

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary, is hiring a Fitter/Welder for our Steele, Alabama plant. You will lay out pieces using jigs and blueprints, then weld with manual/automatic equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair metal parts.

We seek candidates with at least 1 year of welding experience, ability to perform multi-pass and various welds, and a solid commitment to quality and safety. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year welding experience.
• Ability to perform horizontal and vertical welds.
• Ability to perform multi-pass welds.
• Ability to perform "C" (circumference) welds.
• Ability to maintain 90% pass rate on UT inspection.
• Ability to maintain good attendance.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the completion of tasks to meet deadlines.
• Apply welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts according to layouts or blueprints.
• Weld clips and hardware.
• Perform full penetration welds to weld ends to poles or channels.
• Operate grinding equipment.
• Lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies.
• Position pieces to be welded using jigs and measuring tools.
• Maintain quality and safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Meyer Utility Structures, an Arcosa Subsidiary is hiring Fitter/Welders for our plant located in Steele, AL. As a Fitter/Welder, you’ll use jigs/holding fixtures to lay out pieces to be welded according to blueprints, layouts, schematics, or work orders. You’ll then use manual/semi-automatic/automatic welding equipment to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials.

What you’ll do:

• Assist with the completion of tasks to meet deadlines
• Apply appropriate welding processes to join, surface, fabricate, and repair parts of metal or other weldable materials according to layouts, work orders, blueprints, schematics, and sketches using manual, automatic welding and/or semi-automatic welding equipment
• Weld clips and hardware
• Perform full penetration (such as slip joint) welds to weld ends to poles or channels
• Operate grinding equipment
• May lay out and mark weld points on parts or subassemblies
• May position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools
• Maintain quality and efficiency
• Observe all standard safety practices
• Perform other duties as assigned
