Brady Corporation is seeking a Lead Firmware Engineer to join our Milwaukee team. You will design, implement, and test real-time embedded firmware for high-speed printing systems, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to deliver robust solutions.

The role requires 7+ years in embedded firmware, expertise in C/C++, Linux, and RTOS, and a solid understanding of OOAD and UML. Expect a hands-on leader who drives innovation and quality across the firmware lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of relevant embedded firmware experience.
• Experience with real-time embedded C/C++.
• Experience with Linux-based firmware on resource-constrained systems and RTOS like FreeRTOS or Zephyr.
• Knowledge of OOAD and UML.
• Experience reading schematics/datasheets.

Responsibilities

• Lead team to design, develop, code, and document entire systems within a large firmware project.
• Design, develop, and implement firmware in modern C++ for embedded systems within our printing solutions.
• Develop and maintain Linux and RTOS-based firmware for resource-constrained environments.
• Analyze and solve problems using debuggers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other tools.
• Read schematics and datasheets necessary to write low-level firmware.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and software developers to integrate firmware with hardware and software components.
• Perform code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
• Deconstruct complex features into technical requirements and actionable tasks, lead team in accurate effort estimations.
