Job summary

HP IQ, HP’s AI innovation lab, seeks a Lead Firmware Engineer to design and implement firmware for ARM-based MCUs in prototypes and products. You will coordinate with EE, RF, Security, and Cloud teams to deliver secure, high-performance embedded solutions.

You will bring up hardware in lab, optimize power and performance, and contribute to a fast-paced, safety‑conscious team culture. Strong RTOS and C/C++ skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years experience developing firmware for embedded microcontrollers.
• Deep experience in embedded firmware with knowledge of radio stacks (BT/BLE, Wi‑Fi) and ARM MCU architecture.
• Passionate about low‑power (<1mW sleep) systems, audio subsystems, and cloud-connected devices.
• Proficient in FreeRTOS or Zephyr, Embedded C, C++, protocols, and unit test frameworks.
• Comfortable working in large multi-developer codebases.
• Able to collaborate in a psychologically safe and healthy team environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop firmware and embedded system architecture for ARM-based MCUs in prototypes and products.
• Collaborate with EE, RF, Security, Cloud Services, and AI models teams to build secure, high-performance systems.
• Bring up and debug new hardware in lab and support production sites.
• Establish and manage performance metrics including code size, memory, power, and latency.
