Job summary

City of Apache Junction is seeking a part-time Range Safety Officer to oversee the police department firearms range, conduct training, and administer range facilities and equipment. Qualifications

Must possess High School Diploma or GED and four (4) years paid full-time law enforcement experience, including two (2) years as firearms instructor or range instructor.
Must possess AZPOST recognized firearms instructor certification and AZPOST approved rifle instructor certification; or equivalent experience.
Must obtain armorer level certifications for Glock, AR15, Remington 870 shotgun, 40mm launcher and pepper ball platform within twelve (12) months of hire.

Responsibilities

Oversee safe operation of the police department firearms range and enforce range safety procedures.
Plan, develop, and administer firearms training and qualification programs.
Serve as department's lead firearms instructor and SME for firearm safety, handling, marksmanship, and related skills.
Coordinate and schedule training; ensure personnel remain current with required certifications.
Develop and maintain firearms training curriculum, lesson plans, and range procedures.
