Job summary

Palmetto State Armory is seeking a Lead Design Engineer II to lead firearm product development, mentoring engineers and guiding design from concept to production. You will shape complex firearms systems and sub-systems within the product development team.

You will collaborate across functions, generate CAD models and drawings, perform tolerance analyses, and help scale manufacturing. Strong leadership and manufacturing design experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of design engineering experience, firearm development preferred.
• SolidWorks and/or other 3D CAD software proficiency.
• Ability to create drawings with GD&T and functional dimensions.
• Effective communication with executive management and teams.
• Expert level understanding of firearm or component types.
• Design for manufacturing across multiple techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design activities from idea through production with the team.
• Develop CAD models and drawings with proper tolerancing.
• Perform tolerance studies and QAP identification.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals.
• Support testing, prototype build, and reporting to meet requirements.
• Assist with IP development through patent-related work.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and ensure safety practices.
