Job summary

Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) in Baltimore invites applications for a Full-time Principal Faculty to teach Filmmaking in the undergraduate program Film & Video within the Department of Media Arts.

The ideal candidate will be rooted in storytelling and maintain an active professional practice, contributing to curriculum with emerging technologies. Responsibilities include teaching three courses per semester, mentoring students, and participating in departmental service.

Qualifications

• Requires MFA/PhD in Film, Media Production, Video Art or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 3+ years of college-level teaching experience with a passion for education.
• Proven professional filmmaking accomplishment and recognition through festivals, distributions, or screenings.

Responsibilities

• Teach 3 courses per semester (FYE to graduate coursework).
• Mentor and advise students, fostering their development.
• Collaborate with program faculty, department chairs, and Film Centre staff.
• Contribute to program development, assessment, and admissions.
• Maintain active professional practice or research informing teaching.
