Job summary

Maryland Institute College of Art is seeking a full-time Associate Faculty in Design and Innovation. The role links studio learning with industry and community partners, teaching across the Design and Innovation curriculum with emphasis on experiential learning with external partners through MICA's Design + Innovation Hub.

The chosen candidate will teach eight course units annually, develop partnerships, and contribute to the broader curriculum while guiding students through human-centered

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• 1–3 years of effective teaching as instructor of record at the college level.
• Experience designing and teaching courses or projects with external partners.
• Ability to connect partner needs with meaningful student learning.
• Professional or scholarly experience in design or a related field.
• Knowledge of human-centered design and design research methods.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and facilitation with students and partners.

Responsibilities

• Teach eight course units per year across the Design and Innovation curriculum.
• Teach across the Design Core and CEL courses with external partners.
• Collaborate with the Design + Innovation Hub to identify and sustain partnerships.
• Scope partnered projects and structure student work to partner needs.
• Advise and mentor students in creative, academic, and professional development.
• Assess student learning and contribute to program assessment.
• Stay engaged with current design practice and industry contexts.
