Job summary

Transcendia is seeking a lead operator to safely set up, operate, troubleshoot, and optimize film extrusion lines, ensuring products meet customer specifications and quality goals. The role serves as a technical resource for operators, assists with training, and supports continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.

The position emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and collaboration with maintenance and quality teams to maintain safety, efficiency, and lean manufacturing standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 3-5+ years of film extrusion operating experience preferred.
• Advanced understanding of extrusion processes, polymers, resins, additives, and material handling.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot processing and equipment issues.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to read work orders, specifications, gauges, and measuring devices.
• Basic computer skills for production reporting.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up, start up, operate, and shut down film extrusion lines safely and efficiently.
• Monitor and adjust processing parameters to maintain product quality.
• Perform product changeovers and material changes with minimal downtime.
• Troubleshoot equipment, material, and process issues to reduce scrap and improve efficiency.
• Inspect film for quality characteristics including gauge, width, appearance, strength, and customer-specific requirements.
• Complete production reports, quality documentation, and downtime records accurately.
• Perform routine equipment inspections and basic preventive maintenance.
• Coordinate with maintenance on equipment repairs and major troubleshooting.
• Train and mentor Level I operators on machine operation, safety, quality standards, and best practices.
• Assist supervisors in developing SOPs and work instructions.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and comply with safety policies.
• Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to boost productivity and uptime.
• Assist with new product trials and process development.
• Communicate production status and equipment performance with supervisors and teams.
