Job summary

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Crew Chief to join our growing Survey team in San Antonio, TX. The role leads field crews performing terrestrial and boundary surveys, stakeouts, and as-built surveys for residential and commercial properties.

The ideal candidate will manage field data collection, use Total Stations and GNSS, and ensure accurate notes and reports while mentoring junior staff. A valid license and English proficiency are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior crew chief experience is a plus.
• Proficiency with data collectors, data collection techniques, robotic instruments, field note-keeping, total stations and leveling.
• Experience with or ability to learn 3D scanners.
• Self-starter with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Lead one, two, or three-person crews on survey projects.
• Perform design, boundary, ALTA/NSPS surveys and stakeouts.
• Plan and perform field surveys within scope and budget.
• Supervise other crew members.
• Interact with project site supervisors and client field representatives.
• Prepare accurate field notes and daily activity reports.
• Perform in-field calculations for stakeout and land surveys.
• Prepare cut sheets for construction assignments and review data validity.
• Instruct team on use of Total Stations, Data Collectors, GNSS.
• Transfer field data to office daily.
• Mentor field survey staff to facilitate advancement.
