Job summary

Dynotec in Columbus, OH is seeking a skilled Survey Crew Chief to lead field operations across Central Ohio. You will supervise field crews, ensure accurate data collection, and work closely with project managers and clients.

Responsibilities include boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys; perform complex calculations; operate total stations, GPS units, and data collectors; document notes and deliverables; enforce safety; mentor junior staff and coordinate with engineers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Surveying, Geomatics, or related field.
• 3+ years in land surveying with at least 1 year leading/managing projects.
• Proficiency with modern surveying instruments and data software; drone license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise field survey crews on boundary, topographic, construction, and control surveys.
• Perform and verify survey calculations including traverse closures, level loops, and coordinate geometry.
• Operate and maintain survey equipment including total stations, GPS units, and digital data collectors.
• Accurately document field notes, sketches, and data for deliverables and legal reference.
• Enforce safety protocols, daily HSAP reviews, and OSHA/company standards.
• Train junior crew members and coordinate with PMs, engineers, and clients to resolve field issues.
• Monitor project budgets, timelines, timekeeping, field expenses, and equipment maintenance.
