Job summary

The Weitz Company in West Palm Beach, FL is seeking a Field Superintendent to lead the major portion of fieldwork on our commercial projects. You will supervise crews, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure safety, schedule, and budget alignment.

Ideal candidates will have a construction-related degree or coursework and at least 3+ years of project construction experience, with strong leadership and communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Industry related degree or coursework preferred.
• 3+ years of project construction experience required.
• Experience in commercial construction is a plus.
• Experience leading others with a focus on mentoring and developing your team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update the project schedule.
• Review purchase orders and subcontracts to understand and administer the scope.
• Collaborate with Superintendents to forecast labor needs.
• Conduct preconstruction meetings with appropriate subcontractors prior to their start in the field.
• Ensure the project is in accordance with safety standards, plans, schedule, and specifications.
• Update project schedules and prepare two-week look ahead schedules.
• Assist with the buyout and selection of major subcontractors.
• Coordinate the work of the subcontractors’ field forces.
• Communicate effectively with owners, designers, and engineers.
• Maintain accurate cost reports.
• Provide leadership and mentorship to the team.
• Maintain project safety in accordance with company’s safety policy.
• Create and maintain positive relationships with employees and stakeholders, both internal and external.
