Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Field Engineer to join our team in West Palm Beach, FL. The Field Engineer will assist in supervising field work conducted by Weitz and subcontractors, supporting the pathway to becoming a Superintendent in the future.

Weitz has a long history since 1855 as a full-service contractor with opportunities to grow, robust benefits, and a diverse culture. The role emphasizes coordination, planning, and cost reporting on active projects.

Qualifications

1-2 years of experience as a Project Engineer or related internship.
Industry-related degree or coursework is a plus.

Responsibilities

Participate in development of the project plan and ensure proper execution.
Make design or other change recommendations to improve quality, reduce costs, or shorten schedule.
Assist Superintendent with equipment review and planning.
Assist Superintendent with pre-construction meetings with subcontractors.
Maintain and protect tools, equipment, and materials on the jobsite.
Assist Superintendent with site logistics and cleanup to present a professional image.
Maintain cost reporting and respond to RFIs.
Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining the project schedule.
Document delays and inform Superintendent.
Monitor field performance across subcontractors, employees, schedules, quality, and costs.
Maintain relationships with owners’ and architects’ representatives; escalate major issues to Supervisor.
Set up, organize, read, communicate, and update project schedules.
