Job summary

Actalent in Hauppauge, NY is seeking a Construction Superintendent to oversee daily field operations on commercial projects from mobilization to closeout. You will coordinate subcontractors, maintain schedules, enforce safety and quality standards, and ensure work aligns with plans and specifications.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong communication with project management and stakeholders, a track record of managing multi-trade crews, and a proactive approach to resolving field

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of commercial construction field experience, with demonstrated experience leading projects as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent.
• Proven ability to manage daily field operations on commercial construction projects from mobilization through closeout.
• Strong subcontractor management skills, including coordination, supervision, and performance oversight of multiple trades.
• Experience with project scheduling, including maintaining short-term schedules and driving subcontractors toward milestones.
• Hands-on field leadership style with the ability to take ownership of the jobsite and make informed decisions in real time.
• Solid understanding of jobsite safety practices and regulations, with the ability to enforce safety standards consistently.
• Experience monitoring and enforcing construction quality control to meet project specifications and performance requirements.
• Ability to read, interpret, and work from drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other construction documents.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with Project Management, subcontractors, clients, architects, and other stakeholders.
• Proven ability to identify field conflicts, anticipate potential problems, and proactively develop solutions before they impact the schedule.
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining project documentation, daily reports, and punch lists.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, schedule-driven commercial construction environment where priorities can change rapidly.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• SST credentials if required for applicable NYC work.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily field operations on commercial construction projects from initial mobilization through final project closeout.
• Coordinate and supervise subcontractors and trades to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and update short-term schedules, driving subcontractors and vendors toward key project milestones.
• Conduct daily site walks to monitor construction progress, identify potential issues, and verify that work aligns with plans and specifications.
• Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and other construction documents to understand project scope and communicate requirements to the field.
• Collaborate closely with Project Managers and internal team members to align field activities with overall project goals and timelines.
• Identify field conflicts and proactively develop practical solutions to minimize disruptions and avoid schedule delays.
• Monitor workmanship and enforce project quality standards, ensuring all construction meets required specifications and performance criteria.
• Maintain a clean, organized, professional, and safe jobsite that reflects positively on the project team and organization.
• Conduct and document daily reports, including progress updates, manpower, inspections, and notable field conditions.
• Participate in owner, architect, subcontractor, and project coordination meetings to represent field conditions and support effective decision-making.
• Coordinate required inspections with appropriate parties and manage project closeout activities to ensure timely completion.
• Develop, manage, and track punch lists, working with subcontractors and trades to resolve outstanding items.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and clearly communicate field changes and impacts to the project team.
• Help ensure projects remain on schedule by monitoring critical path activities and escalating issues before they create delays.
• Utilize construction software and tools to support scheduling, documentation, reporting, and communication.
• Support ground-up and design-build project delivery by effectively managing field execution from start to finish.
• Oversee jobsite safety practices and compliance with applicable safety standards and procedures.
• Support project quality control efforts by verifying materials, methods, and installations meet design intent and specifications.
