Job summary

Herc Rentals in Houston, TX seeks a Field Service Mechanic A to lead fleet maintenance on customer sites. You will mentor junior techs, perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance using a fully equipped service truck.

Responsibilities include diagnosing engines, hydraulic and electrical systems, replacing components, and generating detailed service reports while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools and fleet management systems.
• Ownership of a selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete repairs.

Responsibilities

• Maintain PM schedules for Herc-owned fleet at active job sites.
• Operate/test equipment onsite to confirm quality standards.
• Independently perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet equipment and trucks.
• Perform oil changes, lubrication, tire/hose/battery replacements, and related field services.
• Recondition/replace heavy equipment parts and diagnose wear/tear onsite.
• Keep service truck and inventory organized and stocked.
• Produce detailed service reports and repair logs per visit.
• Follow field procedures, safety requirements; other duties as assigned.
