Addison Group is seeking a seasoned Field Service Engineer for Marine Diesel Engines based in Houston, TX. The role supports 2-stroke and 4-stroke medium-speed engines across the Americas with extensive field work, leading crews through multi-day overhaul projects.

The candidate brings 8–10+ years in diesel engine service, strong mechanical expertise, and the ability to direct complex field service. Travel 50%+ is required; candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and credentials.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years in diesel engine service, marine engineering, or heavy mechanical/power systems.
• Experience with 2-stroke and 4-stroke medium-speed diesel engines.
• Exposure to platforms such as EMD, Hyundai Heavy Industries, Sulzer, or similar.
• Ability to lead large field-service overhauls and teams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with precision measurement tools and diagnostics.
• TWIC card and passport required or ability to obtain; valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to travel 50%+ including international/remote locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead major engine overhauls (24–78+ hour projects) including piston pulls and rebuilds.
• Direct field teams during maintenance of diesel engines and related systems.
• Perform precision measurements (bore, deflection, backlash, ovality, wear, alignment).
• Lead troubleshooting and repair of engine components (cylinder heads, pumps, fuel systems, turbochargers).
• Ensure safety protocols, conduct toolbox talks, and maintain site safety compliance.
• Prepare scopes of work, coordinate tooling and logistics, and document projects.
• Communicate with customers, ship superintendents, and internal coordinators during execution.
• Train and mentor junior technicians and ensure quality control of work and measurements.
