Job summary

Zachry Group is seeking a Field Procurement Supervisor in Dallas to lead a procurement team of up to 10 field specialists. This role oversees field procurement activities, ensuring adherence to SOPs, quality, and schedule.

You will drive supplier development, negotiate for best value, and coordinate with Home Office and Project Managers. The ideal candidate has 7+ years in procurement with leadership experience, strong communication, and the ability to manage contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Source and award field purchase orders per SOP and site-specific requirements
  • Develop and expand the project supplier list
  • Develop and manage relationships with existing and new suppliers
  • Research procurement history to benchmark field procurement efforts
  • Administer any purchase orders assigned from the Home Office Procurement team
  • Manage purchase order process from requisition through the delivery of goods or services
  • Attend necessary project meetings
  • Conduct bid reviews with the site team and suppliers
  • Negotiate with suppliers for the best value
  • Look for cost savings and value-added opportunities with current or new supply base
  • Retain documents related to field procurement efforts including requisitions, specifications, correspondence, order, and acknowledgments as well as revisions
  • Requires experience negotiating and managing contracts
  • Develop and communicate award recommendations for bid packages
  • Schedule and/or participate in site kick-off meetings
  • Participate and contribute to regular field procurement meetings
  • Maintain and develop knowledge of procurement applications including Oracle, PPMS, and other support software
  • Develop and manage the project field procurement mobilization and demobilization efforts
  • Support site OS&D communication with suppliers and the project team
  • Communication skills - interface and communicate with the project and home office Management, reporting Staff, project Crafts, Expediting and Support Services
  • Coordinate and report Procurement Department metrics and performance
  • Coordinate surplus disposal at projects with Materials Management
  • Position requires an individual who is detailed orientated, organized, and result driven
  • Must be able to contribute in a positive way to a fast-paced project environment

This individual will have oversight of field procurement responsibilities. Supervises a team of up 10 Field Procurement Lead, Field Procurement Coordinators and Field Procurement Assistants. Oversees processes and procedures for executing the work and monitors compliance and quality, assigns projects and tasks, and assists in recruiting and training personnel. Coordinates closely with Project Procurement Managers to assure Project requirements are fulfilled. Assists staff with particularly difficult and out-of-the-ordinary problem-solving challenges. This position, reports to the Director of Procurement. Must be able to contribute in a positive way to a fast-paced project environment.

Qualifications

Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced work environment. Candidates with proficiency in Microsoft Office environment is preferred. Experience in industrial procurement in related field is required. Strong interpersonal skills required. Ability to manage others required.

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 5-7 years of related experience
  • Shall have the ability to work independently, think and plan ahead and bring issues to attention of management. Ability to operate Microsoft suite. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented and provide accurate work products
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Productivity tools (Office 365, SharePoint, Teams, etc.) (preferred)
  • Experience creating document templates and workflows in industry digital document approval platforms like DocuSign and Adobe Sign would be beneficial
  • Some travel may be necessary 25% or less (when required)
What is an added plus
  • Bachelor’s degree or a diploma with equivalent working experience in lieu of a degree
  • 5-7 years related industry experience preferred
  • Preferred large industrial construction procurement experience
  • Prefer experience in multiple industrial market sectors
  • Prior experience interfacing with client and engineering entities preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employee will be required to communicate in person, via telephone, email, use of arm/hand steadiness, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, multi limb coordination, oral expression, and comprehension. May be required to lift, carry and move objects safely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work will be in a conservative corporate office environment operating and functioning at a fast pace. Working out of cubicles near other various colleagues who are also in cubes. Some may refer to these workspaces as cube farms. Our corporate campus includes an on-site café with various daily breakfast, lunch and snack-time selections, a sizeable fitness center equipped with various state of the artwork out equipment & weights, outdoor walking/jogging-path, herb garden, basketball half-court, sand-volleyball court, soccer field, as well as a clinic with a certified nurse practitioner. Office noise will be low and generally consist of cube neighbors’ phone-calls, conversations and/or laughter. You can expect people to treat you with friendliness and respect throughout the Zachry campus.
