Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking a Senior Network Construction Engineer in Irving, TX to lead Layer 1 network infrastructure design and field deployment across multiple sites. The role focuses on cabling, MDF/IDF layouts, and physical topology, coordinating with IT, OT, and business teams.

You will oversee contractors, manage procurement, and ensure safety standards are met while delivering reliable connectivity for production equipment and plant environments.

Qualifications

• 3–7+ years of experience in network infrastructure deployment or field engineering.
• Strong understanding of Layer 1–3 networking.
• Experience designing Layer 1 infrastructure (cabling, fiber, pathways).
• Experience deploying network equipment across multi-vendor environments (Meraki, Cisco).
• Ability to read and interpret network diagrams and site plans.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead implementation of Layer 1 network infrastructure, including cabling layouts and MDF/IDF buildouts.
• Coordinate and oversee network construction activities, including cabling, rack/stack, and hardware installation.
• Ensure remote locations have reliable, standards-compliant network infrastructure for production and OT systems.
• Manage contractors and vendors to meet standards, timelines, and budgets.
• Procure network equipment, obtain quotes, coordinate purchases, and verify deliveries.
• Translate designs into field-ready implementation plans and own execution in the field.
• Perform site assessments to validate power, space, pathways, and environmental requirements.
• Configure, deploy, and validate network equipment across platforms (Meraki, Cisco).
• Support installation, turn‑up, and validation of network connectivity for IT and OT environments.
• Troubleshoot physical layer and network issues during deployments and post‑cutover.
• Maintain accurate documentation and test results.
