Job summary

County of Napa is seeking a Field Inspection Supervisor to plan, organize, and supervise building inspections for compliance with state and county codes. You will guide inspectors, interpret complex regulations, and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and the public to ensure safe, compliant buildings.

The ideal candidate leads with accountability and innovation, supports staff development, and strives to modernize workflows using new technologies.

Qualifications

• Four years as a government building inspector, with at least one year in a lead supervisory role.
• Equivalent to four years as a superintendent of building construction projects with supervision of multiple trades may substitute for one year.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate staff inspecting residential and non-residential buildings for code compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to inspectors and interpret building codes and regulations.
• Coordinate inspection activities with agencies, contractors, architects, engineers, and the public.
• Lead staff development, training, and workflow improvements; support Chief Building Official in absence.
