Job summary

Future, a Primoris Company, seeks a Lead Fiber Splicing Technician to head daily splicing activities in the field and coordinate the splicing crew in Florida. You will oversee fusion splicing, ribbon/loose-tube prep, case/enclosure installation, and fiber organization, while ensuring adherence to splice plans and project specs.

Test fiber with OTDRs and power meters, document results, and drive timely closeout records.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on fiber optic splicing experience; lead or crew-lead experience preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of OSP fiber construction, splice cases, cabinets, terminals, and fiber management practices.
• Proficient with fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDRs, power meters, and common fiber test equipment.
• Ability to read fiber diagrams, splice matrices, construction prints, and project specifications.
• Ability to lead a small field crew, prioritize work, and communicate effectively with construction and project teams.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Fiber optic certifications are preferred but not required when equivalent field experience is demonstrated.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily fiber-splicing activities and coordinate work assignments for the splicing crew.
• Perform fusion splicing, ribbon or loose-tube fiber preparation, case/enclosure installation, and fiber organization.
• Test fiber using OTDR, optical power meter, light source, and related test equipment; identify and correct faults or high-loss events.
• Read and follow splice plans, fiber assignments, prints, schematics, and project specifications.
• Complete splice documentation, test results, redlines, and other required closeout records accurately and on time.
• Verify workmanship meets customer standards, project specifications, and company quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot damaged or impaired fiber facilities and support emergency restoration when required.
• Maintain splicing equipment, tools, vehicles, and materials in clean and serviceable condition.
• Promote safe work practices, conduct jobsite checks, and ensure crew compliance with company and customer safety requirements.
• Communicate production status, material needs, field issues, and schedule impacts to project leadership.
