Job summary

Essel is seeking a Lead Cable Splicing Technician to oversee field service operations, manage heavy equipment, and drive fiber optic network deployment. You will lead outdoor installations, perform testing and troubleshooting, and ensure safety and quality across projects.

The role requires hands-on experience with telecom outside plant operations, fiber splicing methods, and IT infrastructure components. You will coordinate teams and document project progress in dynamic outdoor environments.

Qualifications

Experience in field service roles with telecommunications outside plant operations.
Strong knowledge of fiber splicing techniques and network deployment.
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as bucket trucks safely; outdoor work.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools including voltmeters, testing equipment, and schematics.
Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, and low voltage wiring.
Familiarity with LAN/WAN configurations and IT infrastructure concepts.

Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate field service activities related to cable splicing and fiber installation.
Operate bucket trucks safely to access elevated work sites.
Troubleshoot network issues using voltmeters and test equipment.
Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables outdoors per standards (NESC).
Interpret schematics and engineering guides for accurate installations.
Manage splicing projects from planning to documentation and quality control.
Provide technical support for fiber, LAN/WAN, Ethernet, and telephony systems.
