Job summary

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories in Pullman, WA, seeks a Failure Analysis Laboratory Manager to lead a materials science and electronics failure analysis lab. You will direct investigations, mentor staff, and develop SOPs to support product reliability improvements.

The role emphasizes collaboration with other departments, safety, and data-driven decision making on testing and identification of failures.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or Science with four+ years of leadership experience in analytics.
• Ability to prioritize, organize and delegate; remove obstacles.
• Proficient in English writing, documentation, and speaking.
• Lean manufacturing or World Class Manufacturing knowledge in a lab setting.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming work requests, prioritize and assign investigations to team members.
• Lead internal teams on moderate technical complexity investigations; collaborate with suppliers as needed.
• Provide technical guidance to internal project stakeholders.
• Mentor team members on processes or analysis techniques.
• Develop or improve failure analysis methods, SOPs, and work control processes.
• Collaborate with department leaders to address staffing and capital investment needs.
• Collect and report operational metrics and expenses for leadership review.
• Ensure safety risks are properly identified, escalated, and resolved.
