Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc in Washington, DC area is seeking an experienced Facility Engineering Manager to lead a portfolio of commercial and government facility projects, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

You will oversee 20–40 concurrent small to mid-sized projects, manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk, coordinate vendors and internal teams, and maintain strong customer relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience.
  • Strong understanding of building infrastructure (HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing).
  • Experience managing 20–40 concurrent small to mid-sized construction projects.
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule, cost, and risk in occupied facilities.
  • Excellent customer communication with proactive updates.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate internal teams, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations.
  • Supervisory experience and staff development.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects from initiation through closeout, including scope development, budgeting, scheduling, procurement, execution, and documentation.
  • Implement project management practices with schedules, lookahead planning, RFIs, submittals, change management, and closeout.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings and routine reviews with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, procurement activities, and site access.
  • Monitor project costs against budgets and provide regular financial reporting and forecasts.
  • Identify and mitigate risks relating to safety, schedule, cost, and operations; communicate status.
  • Ensure work is safe and compliant with contract requirements and quality standards.
  • Create cost estimates and project proposals using GSA rates.
  • Create project schedules using Microsoft Project or similar tools; track progress.
  • Maintain ownership of all projects across lifecycle.
  • Implement processes to ensure efficient flow from initiation to closeout.
