Job summary

RTX is seeking an experienced Facilities Lead Technician (HVAC Specialist) in Virginia to provide hands-on leadership for maintenance operations and serve as the SME for commercial HVAC systems. This onsite role requires a Journeyman HVAC license and 8+ years of experience.

You will troubleshoot complex systems, supervise facilities personnel, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safety, codes, and energy efficiency across the site at Dulles.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8+ years of facilities HVAC technician and leadership experience.
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Hands-on experience in commercial HVAC troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Pneumatic controls, thermostats and VAV boxes.
• Ability to read HVAC schematics, electrical wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
• Experience with BAS and diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance operations and supervise facilities personnel.
• Serve as primary contact for escalations and emergencies.
• Oversee external contractors for MEP work and ensure safety compliance.
• Assist with CMMS for routine repairs and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Perform hands-on maintenance and advanced troubleshooting of HVAC systems.
• Monitor BAS to optimize energy efficiency.
• Lead preventive maintenance schedules across mechanical systems.
• Perform refrigerant recovery, charging, and documentation.
• Work from drawings, sketches and manuals to install/repair components.
