Job summary
A leading manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Lead Fabricator for their 2nd shift team in Richmond, VA. In this critical leadership role, you will oversee a team of welders and fitters, ensuring production goals are met while adhering to safety and quality standards. Ideal candidates will have over 3 years of experience in steel fabrication, strong leadership abilities, and a solid understanding of fabrication processes. Qualifications
Minimum of 3 years of experience successfully leading a steel fabrication team.
Strong knowledge of structural steel, welding, layout, fabrication techniques, and CNC fabrication equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
Familiarity with safety regulations, quality standards, and cost control practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Willingness to work 2nd shift hours, including overtime and Saturdays as needed.
Responsibilities
Supervise and support a team of fitters and welders to meet daily production targets and delivery schedules.
Coordinate with the Shop Foreman, QC, and maintenance teams to keep workflow efficient and equipment fully operational.
Assign daily tasks and workloads to maximize productivity and reduce downtime.
Provide hands-on support and guidance for fabrication-related issues, including drawing interpretation, welding techniques, and safety best practices.
Maintain open communication with leadership regarding deadlines, schedule changes, and team needs.
Assist with employee onboarding, training, performance reviews, timecard management, and disciplinary actions.
Work collaboratively with the Quality Control department to ensure all work complies with AISC standards.
Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the success of the fabrication shop.
