Job summary

The Boeing Company in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, is seeking an F-18 General Mechanic Lead to work on 1st or 2nd shift at NAS JRB New Orleans. You will lead assembly, disassembly and modification of aerospace vehicle components and supervise others to ensure safety and quality.

The role requires at least 5 years of military fighter aircraft maintenance, 3 years of team leadership, and the ability to read technical publications. Expect training, mentorship, and field experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance.
• Minimum of 3 years leading a team (including managing team assignment, tracking status, and developing a team’s talent).
• Experience as a military plane captain.
• Willing to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds or more during a shift.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting technical publications and/or maintenance manuals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assembly, disassembly and modification of systems by overseeing the change, removal, replacement or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.
• Oversee assembly, disassembly or overhaul.
• Configure aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
• Direct troubleshooting of complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
• Oversee validation/verification testing of systems and components.
• Document procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).
• Inspect components and verify repairs for flight worthiness requirements.
• Lead and supervise others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle (e.g. jacking, towing, system operations).
• Provide training and mentors others.
• Work under minimal direction.
