Job summary

Boeing Aerospace Operations / Boeing Global Services (BGS) seeks a Lead F-18 General Mechanic to join the team at Naval Air Station JRB New Orleans in Belle Chase, LA. The role leads maintenance tasks on fighter aircraft, oversees disassembly, testing, and documentation, and mentors junior mechanics.

The position requires leadership experience, 5+ years in fighter aircraft maintenance, and the ability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends across Shift 1 or Shift 2. U.S.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance.
• Minimum of 3 years leading a team (including managing team assignment, tracking status, and developing a team’s talent)
• Experience as a military plane captain
• Willing to work variable shifts; including days, evenings, nights and weekends
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds or more during a shift
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting technical publications and/or maintenance manuals

Responsibilities

• Lead the assembly, disassembly and modification of systems by overseeing the change, removal, replacement or upgrade of aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes
• Oversee assembly, disassembly or overhaul
• Configure aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment
• Direct troubleshooting of complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components
• Oversee validation/verification testing of systems and components
• Document procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance
• Inspect components and verify repairs for flight worthiness requirements
• Lead and supervise others to perform tasks associated with the safe handling of an aerospace vehicle
• Provide training and mentors others
• Work under minimal direction
