Job summary

Ford Motor Company is seeking an experienced Exterior Lighting Engineer to lead exterior lighting systems from concept through production launch, with deep knowledge of lamp design, CAD/package development, supplier execution and validation planning.

You will head cross-functional teams with lighting, optics, software, electrical, purchasing and manufacturing to balance performance, cost and timing, driving DFMEA, DVP&R and production release, while providing technical ownership and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related field.
• 5+ years of professional automotive exterior lighting engineering experience.
• Demonstrated CAD design capability for preliminary design work.
• Experience leading exterior lighting development across milestones.
• Experience with DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, root cause analysis and engineering change management.
• Ability to lead suppliers and cross-functional teams with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead exterior lighting systems from concept to production launch.
• Generate and execute technical solutions for exterior lighting components.
• Lead supplier technical execution, including design reviews and tooling readiness.
• Balance cost, weight, and timing across programs.
• Drive validation readiness and evidence of compliance (DFMEA, DVP&R).
• Production release of exterior lighting systems and features.
• Travel as required (including international).
