Job summary

The State of Washington Department of Health seeks a Childhood Environmental Exposure Prevention Unit Supervisor (Environmental Planner 5 EP 5) to lead lead prevention initiatives for children in schools and childcare facilities.

This homebased role offers hybrid work with some in-office or field activities within Washington and occasional travel. You’ll guide program operations, manage grants and contracts, and foster partnerships to advance health equity and environmental justice.

Qualifications

• Two (2) years supervising or leading a team.
• Experience building and maintaining relationships with diverse partners.
• Knowledge of environmental health policy and grants management.
• Ability to translate complex health information for varied audiences.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development, implementation, and evaluation of lead prevention programs.
• Develop policies and operational frameworks to support program delivery.
• Oversee grants and contracts management.
• Set strategic priorities and program plans to reduce childhood lead exposure.
• Ensure alignment with agency priorities, public health best practices, and environmental justice.
• Monitor performance and opportunities for improvement.
• Lead compliance with RCW Chapter 28A.210.410 and related laws.
