Job summary

Bechtel is seeking a seasoned Expediting Lead in Chandler, AZ to plan, staff, and budget project expediting operations. You will distribute workload, monitor progress, and evaluate supplier schedules to meet project needs.

You will liaise with suppliers, escalate issues, and support engineering data reviews for timely outputs. The role requires leading expediting teams, coordinating with project teams, and leveraging MS Office, PowerApps, and PowerBI to optimize materials flow and data

Qualifications

• Lead small teams and coordinate buyer and expeditor activity.
• Experience on field purchasing packages in projects.
• Experience on engineering, procurement and construction projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools; PowerApps and PowerBI experience.
• Advanced Excel skills; strong MS Office proficiency.
• Knowledge of Digital Supply Chain Systems (DSCS).
• Familiar with MAP, ETA, SiteSense systems.
• Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction and startup workflows.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to lead in a matrixed environment and set direction.

• Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review schedules and risks.
• Coordinates shipping arrangements with project Logistics.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will participate in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project expediting operations. You will distribute workload, monitor assignments, evaluate production schedules and progress, and develop procedures. You will contact suppliers, initiate follow-up, monitor quality, and prepare supplier evaluations. Your planning and problem solving will ensure expediting operations meet project needs.

Major Responsibilities:

• Participates in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project and area expediting operations for medium sized projects

• Represents Expediting at project team meetings

• Distributes workload to assigned project expeditors according to the experience and ability of the expeditor, the degree of complexity of the work and the urgency of the need for action

• Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment

• Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if suppliers’ programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements

• Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval, and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers

• Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates

• Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Lead small teams and coordinate buyer and expediter activity.

• Prior experience working on field purchasing packages

• Experience working on engineering, procurement and construction projects.

• Prior knowledge with Microsoft Office Tools (PowerApps and PowerBI experience)

• Advanced Excel skills; strong Microsoft Office proficiency.

• Intermediate Digital Supply Chain Systems (DSCS) knowledge.

• Proficiency with MAP, ETA, SiteSense.

• Strong understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and startup workflows.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to lead and collaborate in a matrixed environment.

• Strong problem‑solving skills under pressure.

• Ability to set direction proactively and communicate priorities effectively.

• Effectively leads teams of buyers or expediters in a field environment.

• Collaborates with engineering and construction in planning lead times to support construction schedule

• Develops each member of the expediting team through training

• Demonstrates good judgment in selecting techniques and methods for obtaining solution

• Coordinates with senior project personnel in own area of expertise.
