Job summary

The E.W. Scripps Company’s CBS affiliate in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking an Executive Reporter to lead storytelling across all platforms. The role includes mentoring reporters and MMJs, guiding editorial standards, and shaping content strategy.

Ideal candidates bring 7+ years of experience, strong ethics, and the ability to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to serve the Norfolk community.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in related discipline preferred or equivalent years of experience.
• 7+ years of experience in related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, develop, and enhance the storytelling abilities of all reporters and MMJs.
• Collaborate with newsroom leaders to execute the content strategy with authentic storytelling.
• Oversee writing of stories for all platforms; provide timely feedback for improvement.
• Develop and supervise workflow strategies for multiple news programs and outlets.
• Ensure content adheres to journalistic standards and ethics.
• Deliver a vision and build trust among reporters, photographers, and staff.
• May provide on-air, multi-platform coverage for breaking news as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
