Job summary

The City of New York is seeking an Evidence and Property Control Specialist to organize EPCS I workflows and supervise assigned staff. You will coordinate evidence secured from autopsies and ensure accurate inventory control.

Responsibilities include training personnel, preparing evaluations, driving agency vehicles, and maintaining proper documentation in our systems. This essential role may require 24-hour availability during emergencies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of full-time security/law enforcement or active military service; or 60 college credits with a 2.0 GPA.
• Must hold a NY driver license; maintain it during employment.
• Special Patrolman status eligibility by NYC Police Department rules.
• To be eligible for Assignment Level II after Level I or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Organizes workflow and manages EPCS I assignments.
• Communicates information to staff and OCME personnel.
• Prepares staff performance evaluations for review.
• Trains and mentors assigned staff.
• Supervises EPCS I activities and initiates progressive discipline as needed.
• Assists MEs in the autopsy suite by handling evidence/property.
• Operates agency vehicles to perform evidence/property duties.
• Inspects vehicles to ensure removal of evidence.
• Inputs disposition data into computer systems.
• Other duties as assigned.
