Job summary
Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) seeks an Associate Supervising Attorney to lead eviction defense efforts, supervise attorneys, fellows, and staff, and advance access to justice for tenants.
The role focuses on high-volume housing litigation, mentorship, and strategic leadership within a collaborative, mission-driven team. Hybrid work with on-site expectations complements a commitment to anti-poverty work.
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school and active California State Bar license.
- Three years of relevant legal experience; supervision/mentoring experience preferred.
- Experience in unlawful detainer litigation or housing law preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and mentor attorneys, legal fellows and staff.
- Provide guidance on professional development of staff.
- Oversee case management, review substantive casework and accompany new advocates to court hearings.
- Direct representation to tenants in unlawful detainer matters as needed.
- Serve as a member of the NLSLA Leadership Team.
- Perform duties as assigned and within same level of responsibilities.
- This role is hybrid with on-site minimum two days per week; some remote work allowed.
