Job summary

The Factory NYC is seeking a Production Estimator in Brooklyn to own the cost of building client projects from scope to bid. You will calculate labor by trade, materials, machine time, vendors, installation and risk, forming the pricing foundation for the shop.

You will verify feasibility, sequence work, and select fabrication approaches while collaborating with the Director of Production and lead estimator. This is a full-time in-person role.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years estimating in custom fabrication, scenic production, construction or similar setting.
• Ability to read drawings, models and specifications and translate to buildable methods.
• Experience costing materials and vendor scope with disciplined variance analysis.
• Judgment on capacity, lead times, and scheduling feasibility.
• Comfort using a connected estimating system and AI tooling in workflow.
• Excellent organization to manage multiple bids and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specs and scope; return undefined areas for honest costing.
• Break scope into buildable components and assign trade costs with justification.
• Decide how work is built: sequencing, materials, fabrication approach, and vendor vs. in-house.
• Cost materials, machine time, vendor scope, logistics, installation and strike.
• Monitor shop capacity and raise risks to Director of Production before deadlines.
• Present method and numbers to department managers for bid accuracy.
• Maintain estimating library and cost records for completed jobs.
