Job summary

The Factory NYC in Brooklyn is seeking a seasoned Production Estimator to own cost estimation for diverse projects. You will break down scope, cost labor, materials, machine time, and vendor terms to produce defendable estimates.

You’ll assess feasibility and capacity, identify schedule risk, and collaborate with production leadership to translate estimates into actionable shop plans.

Qualifications

• Seven or more years estimating in custom fabrication or related field.
• Read drawings, models and specs to build workable methods.
• Assess capacity, lead times, and schedule risk; speak up when deadlines won’t hold.
• Cost materials and vendor scope; compare against quotes.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings, specifications and scope; define undefined areas.
• Break scope into buildable elements and assign trade costs with justification.
• Decide fabrication approach and vendor vs in-house build.
• Cost materials, machine time, vendor scope, logistics, installation and strike.
• Monitor shop capacity and raise bottlenecks to Production leadership.
• Prepare and reconcile change orders with rigor and speed.
• Handoff estimates to production with clear, actionable plans.
• Maintain estimating library; track actuals vs estimates.
