Job summary

Gryphon Oakwood, partnered with a growing electrical contractor in Connecticut, is seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead the estimating function for complex commercial, industrial, and government projects.

Lead bids, review drawings and specs, and develop detailed take-offs with competitive pricing strategies to drive profitable growth. Mentor the estimating team and collaborate with preconstruction, operations and business development for successful handovers after award.

Qualifications

• Proven track record pricing complex commercial electrical projects.
• Strong understanding of drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or overseeing estimating professionals.
• Strong commercial acumen with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines effectively.
• Based in or willing to work within Connecticut.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the electrical estimating process.
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Complete detailed take-offs and develop competitive bid strategies.
• Build and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Identify project risks, value engineering, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Work closely with preconstruction, operations, and business development teams.
• Support project handover following award.
• Mentor and develop estimating team members.
