Job summary

Thornton Construction Company, Inc. is seeking a skilled Estimator in Florida to manage all aspects of estimating, from pre-construction through value engineering, to ensure competitive bids that maximize project wins.

You will collaborate with Operations, Business Development and Accounting to align pricing with project goals. The role requires leadership of the estimating team, development of clear bid packages, and proactive subcontractor engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in civil engineering, construction management, architecture, or related field.
• 3–10 years of estimating experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with estimating software; BIM a plus.
• Strong precision and accuracy in calculations and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Ensure bids and proposals are competitive and have the greatest chance of winning.
• Prepare and maintain status of plan reproduction; solicit subcontractor bids.
• Develop bid packages and transmit addenda to subcontractors.
• Create bid lists and ensure proper coverage from subs on bid day.
• Develop RFI's/clarifications to ensure adequate subcontractor coverage.
