Job summary

The City of Huntsville's Fleet Services department seeks an Equipment Technician II (Heavy Equipment) to repair and maintain heavy construction and automotive equipment. The role involves leading mechanics and applying expert knowledge to complex repairs in a city fleet environment.

Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED with diesel/heavy equipment training and relevant certifications, including ASE and CDL Class A where required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma from a accredited school or GED, including training in diesel and heavy equipment mechanics; thorough experience in repair of diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment; or equivalent education/experience.

Responsibilities

• Leading and directing mechanics in heavy equipment repair. Work is reviewed through inspection during and after completion of jobs.
