Job summary

The State of North Carolina's Department of Transportation seeks a Transportation Worker IV (S) for the Robeson County Maintenance Unit. The role operates heavy equipment across crews and acts as lead worker in highway maintenance projects, following oral and written instructions.

Qualifications

• Six years of experience operating heavy equipment in road maintenance.
• High school diploma or GED; equivalent education/experience may apply.
• Valid North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License or the ability to obtain within 360 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Lead a highway maintenance crew and supervise daily activities.
• Install traffic control and perform roadway maintenance tasks.
• Operate equipment including bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, skid steer and other listed gear.
• Follow safety procedures and document work using mobile devices.
