Job summary

The Transportation Worker 3 Equipment Operator position at the State of West Virginia reports to the Wetzel County Maintenance Headquarters. The role leads and mentors lower-level equipment operators and requires knowledge of roadway construction and maintenance practices while operating and maintaining highway equipment.

The job may involve irregular hours, weekend work, and more than 40 hours per week. A valid Class A or B CDL is required, with progression through the apprenticeship program

Qualifications

• CDL Class A or B and four years of heavy equipment experience.
• No formal education required.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment and lead lower-level operators.
• Mentor and train junior equipment operators.
• Position the drilling rig and assist in maintaining, repairing, and upgrading equipment.
• Read manuals, blueprints, and specifications relevant to assignments.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and operate highway equipment and attachments.
