State of California DTSC is seeking a Supervising Toxicologist to lead the human health risk evaluation and cleanup of hazardous waste sites. The role includes supervising staff, ensuring technically sound decisions, and guiding policy discussions with leadership and stakeholders.

The position offers a hybrid work schedule, salary range of $14,494.00–$17,021.00 per month, and is based at the Cal Center Regional Office in Sacramento. Final filing date is 11/04/2026.

Formación

• Experience managing large groups of multidisciplinary technical professionals.
• Experience preparing human health risk assessments for hazardous substances.
• Experience with change management and stakeholder engagement.

Responsabilidades

• Manage and supervise administrative staff and subordinate toxicologists responsible for risk evaluation and cleanup.
• Ensure SMRP decisions are technically sound and protective of public health and environment.
• Provide staff with support, resources and training for effective project decisions.
• Identify resources for staff recruitment, development and performance as in the DTSC plan.
• Advise with Division Chiefs, Deputy Director and Director on policy issues and respond to requests from stakeholders.
• Identify long-range plans and goals to address succession and knowledge transfer.
