Job summary

UMC Health System is seeking an Environmental Service Worker to focus on Infection Control and Prevention by providing proper cleaning and sanitation throughout the hospital and assigned site campuses. Reports to: Supervisor, Environmental Services.

The role involves cleaning patient rooms, isolation rooms, and common areas, facilitating staff training, and monitoring quality and infection control standards. Requires at least 2 years of environmental service experience in healthcare.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of proper handling and disposing of medical infectious waste and soiled linen
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to interact fairly and appropriately with people of all backgrounds
• +2 years environmental service experience, preferably in a hospital setting
• Ability to clean and disinfect areas of blood, bodily fluids, and other pathogens

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning projects, providing support to coordinate and complete minor maintenance tasks, moves, and set ups
• Facilitate employee training and development
• Perform area inspections to evaluate and monitor quality performance, efficiency, customer satisfaction and infection control standards
• Maintain current area specific records, supply/equipment and inventory control
• Assist housekeeping and floor technicians with cleaning patient rooms, isolation rooms, and all other common areas to patient, visitors, and staff
• All other assigned duties related to Environmental Services
