Qualifications

  • Education and Experience – High school diploma or GED required; supplemented by experience in environmental inspection, construction, housing, or a related field.
  • Licensures and Certifications – Current Lead Risk Assessor certification from the Environmental Protection Division (EPD) or equivalent, meeting HUD requirements.
  • Preferred Requirements – Associate’s or bachelors degree in environmental science, public health, construction management, or a related field; HUD funded programs; lead inspections and clearance testing.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lead risk assessments in residential units to identify potential lead hazards.
  • Perform clearance inspections following lead abatement activities to verify compliance with safety standards.
  • Ensure all inspections meet HUD and EPD requirements.
  • Collect environmental samples (e.g., dust, soil, paint) and coordinate laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare detailed reports documenting findings, hazards identified, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure timely submission of inspection documentation.
  • Communicate findings to property owners, contractors, and program staff.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
