Job summary

The University of Iowa, IIHR—Hydroscience and Engineering and CHEEC, is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to lead environmental monitoring and biomonitoring initiatives. The role supports Iowa INSIGHT and collaborates with researchers and students to advance science addressing environmental health in Iowa.

The position is a specified term, full-time on-campus, with a strong emphasis on research design, data analysis, and publication.

Qualifications

• PhD in Chemistry, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Environmental Health, or related fields.
• At least three years of experience at a Postdoctoral Scholar level or above.
• Significant expertise with LC-MS/MS analysis of environmental and biospecimen samples.
• Experience in QA/QC standards and laboratory data management.

Responsibilities

• Design and initiate research projects; develop methodologies and oversee experimentation.
• Maintain and operate laboratory instrumentation for environmental and biological analyses.
• Perform advanced data analyses and develop new data applications.
• Publish first-author or co-author articles in peer-reviewed journals.
